A clear view of the connection

Affiliate & editorial disclosure

How links may support the lab, what the content can establish, and what gets measured.

Research is useful. It is not a test result.

A research guide can compare published specifications, explain software requirements and identify the questions that remain. It cannot establish that an untested mini PC runs quietly, that a particular SSD is reliable, or that one system uses less wall power than another.

  • Research and buying notes cite their basis, identify unresolved configuration details and use conditional recommendations.
  • Hands-on claims should be accompanied by the exact hardware and software, test method, date, results and evidence.
  • Supplied products or paid placements should be identified on the relevant content if they occur. This policy does not imply that any particular item was supplied or sponsored.

Affiliate availability should not erase a product’s limitations or prevent a practical alternative from being discussed. The guides are intended to help you decide whether a product fits your workload, including when it does not.

Count the link, not the person.

The lab’s own affiliate-click measurement is designed around product, merchant and placement identifiers: for example, which product’s retailer link was selected and whether it appeared in a catalog card or a detail page.

Where that measurement is enabled, it can maintain bounded aggregate counts in local browser storage. The measurement code does not create a visitor ID or retain your name, email address, account identifier, timestamps, referrers, full destination URLs or browsing history. Counts belong to that browser’s local storage. They are not site-wide traffic totals, unique-visitor figures, purchase records or commission reports.

Optional analytics adapters can forward the allowed click fields to a separately configured analytics service, subject to supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. An adapter being available in code does not mean a provider is configured, receiving events or correctly reporting conversions. Delivery failures must not prevent you from following the retailer link.

Clearing this site’s browser storage removes its local counts. Storage restrictions or browser privacy settings may prevent those counts from being saved. No retailer purchase history is available to this local counter.

Other services have their own boundaries.

This description covers the lab’s affiliate-click code where it is loaded on product and retailer-link pages. These editorial pages do not load that tracker. This description does not cover every record independently collected by a hosting provider, a merchant, an embedded platform, or an optional analytics service. Hosting-level analytics and logs are separate from the local click counter.

Following a link takes you to another service with its own privacy terms and technical behavior. A retailer may use its own attribution mechanisms. This site’s click totals cannot confirm that attribution worked or that an order was placed.

There is no sign-up form or checkout on this disclosure page. You do not need to provide personal details to read the guides.
